Download this episode (mp3).

Sleep my child and peace attend thee,
All through the night
Guardian angels God will send thee,
All through the night
Soft the drowsy hours are creeping
Hill and vale in slumber steeping,
I my loving vigil keeping
All through the night.

Music in this episode is "Ar hyd y nos" performed by Thomas L. Thomas, baritone, and Edward Vito, harp from a 1944 recording (source)

  1. I too love this Welsh tune and associate it with words of the lullaby. But because I had heard this episode when "For the Fruits of All Creation" showed up as a hymn option for a 4th Sunday of the month, which is when I select hymns for a nursing home Evening Prayer Service, I immediately thought they would likely know and enjoy the tune even though the hymn lyrics would be less familiar to us all. I ended up needing to create my own "hymn sheet" -- yes my church has a copyright license for the lyrics. It was lovely and I will keep it in my repertoire.
